Dyspareunia in menopause
Dyspareunia is the clinical term for pain during intercourse. In menopausal women, it is most commonly caused by GSM, where estrogen deficiency makes vaginal tissue thin, dry, and less elastic. Treatment includes water- or silicone-based lubricant for intercourse, vaginal moisturiser (Replens) for daily moisture, and vaginal estrogen cream for severe cases. Discuss it with your obstetrics and gynaecology specialist without embarrassment.
