Bisphosphonate in menopause
Synonyms: alendronate, risedronate
Bisphosphonates are osteoporosis medications (alendronate, risedronate, zoledronate). Work by inhibiting osteoclasts (bone-breakdown cells). Recommended for women with diagnosed osteoporosis (T-score < -2.5) or high fracture risk. Taken on empty stomach with water; cannot be with calcium within 2 hours.
