Brain Fog in menopause
Brain fog is the combination of cognitive issues common in perimenopause - concentration difficulty, weak short-term memory, slowed information processing. Largely caused by estrogen affecting brain function (estrogen receptors abundant in hippocampus and prefrontal cortex). Good news: most women return to cognitive baseline within 1-2 years after menopause. Support: omega-3, good sleep, aerobic exercise.
