DHEA or Dehydroepiandrosterone is a hormone precursor - the body converts it to testosterone and estrogen. DHEA levels drop with age. DHEA supplements are marketed for energy, libido, and mood postmenopause. Evidence is mixed - stronger for libido, weaker for cognitive function. IMPORTANT: DHEA is a hormone, not a casual supplement - use only under specialist supervision and doesn't work for all women.
