Postmenopausal Libido in menopause
Libido or sexual desire often declines postmenopause from a combination of factors: estrogen and testosterone deficiency, vaginal dryness causing pain, body and emotional changes, and mid-life stress. Assessment looks at physical causes first (GSM, hormones), then psychological and relational factors. Treatment includes vaginal estrogen for GSM, DHEA or testosterone for libido directly (under specialist care), and couples therapy if needed.
