Osteopenia in menopause
Osteopenia is the early stage of bone density loss - T-score between -1.0 and -2.5 on bone density scan. Not a disease itself but a warning to prevent progression to osteoporosis (T-score < -2.5). Strategies: calcium-K2-D3, weight-bearing exercise, avoid tobacco/alcohol. Bisphosphonates usually not needed at osteopenia stage unless other high risk factors.
